YouTube Traffic Experiment

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Objectives: To be able to determine the level of popularity, confidence and web host reliability of YouTube as a resource/multimedia facility.

Target Website: YouTube ( http://www.youtube.com/ )

What is YouTube?
YouTube was founded in February 2005 and has become one of the most popular web portals in the world. Allowing users to submit videos and wade through the massive video section by searching for keywords, YouTube has taken the idea of viral videos to a new level. (http://webtrends.about.com/od/profi3/p/what-is-youtube.htm)

What Should I Use YouTube?
As the premier video hosting and sharing website, YouTube has something for everyone. From comedy spoofs to movie clips to music videos, if it has been on video it is probably on YouTube. (http://webtrends.about.com/od/profi3/p/what-is-youtube.htm)

Beyond just watching videos, YouTube can empower your blog by allowing you to upload videos and place them on your blog using the YouTube widget. (http://webtrends.about.com/od/profi3/p/what-is-youtube.htm)

Methodology:
1. A total of 6 hours will be consumed for this experiment. Every 2 hours, the group is required to watch 20 videos and gather information about it. Hence, 20 video links were gathered by the group leader from this link below which posted most recent videos arranged in the time sequence of upload: http://www.youtube.com/browse?s=mr.
2. 20 videos every two hours (07:00 PM - 09:00 PM) of three consecutive days (7/13/09, 7/14/09, and 7/15/09) are watched by the group. Data about each video is gathered on a single excel file accessible through this link: Access me!
3. Data were consolidated to facts and findings based on the data.
